WVSU-FM (91.1 FM) is owned by Samford University and operated as a non-commercial radio station.
The radio operated by the Samford Department of Marketing and Communication and offered helpful community information and news, list of contemporary jazz music and also broadcast live university's intercollegiate athletic program for womens basketball and Samford's NCAA Division One baseball team.
Their target is to provide a professional environment in which students can improve communication skills and serve the audience throughout the Birmingham area.

Samford University was founded as Howard College and university student population was exclusively male in the early years.
